Marwing is at the forefront when it comes to high-quality and creative projects in the field of yacht building, industry and engineering. With expertise and experience, technical insight, product knowledge and creativity, Marwing knows how to bring her versatile projects to the highest level. Director Hans de Pagter likes to leave large constructions to other parties. Marwing often only comes into a project with the creative finishing touches. It is therefore not surprising that the paths of Marwing and Genesis have crossed each other.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text p_margin_bottom=“20″ width=“1/1″ el_position=“first last“ css=“.vc_custom_1608198875811{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}“]Hans starts: “Art, photography, architecture and interior have always been important factors in my professional life because of my personal interest. And if you venture into the creative field, you always bump into each other. That’s how I came into contact with Genesis six years ago. A completely different area, of course. But besides the differences, there are especially many similarities between Marwing and Genesis.”

“For both companies, their projects are all about beauty and art. And for both, only the highest level of finish is good enough. In addition, at Marwing, just like with Genesis, we like to participate in the creative process of the customer. And last but not least: innovation and development are of great importance to both. These similarities form a perfect base for a successful collaboration. It was therefore logical for me to step in as co-owner. I manage the company together with Eyal Reches, and Marwing is now a partner of Genesis.”

Other application
“Before Genesis, I was familiar with different types of epoxy, only we apply it in a different way at Marwing. The epoxy is applied layer by layer with a syringe, up to a maximum thickness of one millimeter. Quite a difference from the way Genesis applies its Liquid Gloss, where a layer of five or ten millimeters is applied in one go.”

“Of course, we always use Liquid Gloss for an epoxy finish, although it is not suitable for all projects within Marwing. In the yachting world it is not yet used very often, mainly because epoxy is not yet suitable for salt and a salty climate. But developments are proceeding, so it may be possible in the future.”

New market
Hans continues: “For the interior of a yacht, an epoxy finish is a great option. The inner walls are often provided with special patterns and it can give a special effect if those walls are treated with Liquid Gloss. So, every reason to introduce epoxy there, work in progress! In any case, there are enough reference projects with Liquid Gloss that I can contribute, from artists and designers at renowned architectural firms.”

Small world
“Genesis works with great designers such as Rem Koolhaas and Philippe Starck. Rem Koolhaas initially came into contact with Genesis for a project from his architectural firm OMA, to pour broken glass with Liquid Gloss epoxy. Not much later, Marwing was called in by Rem Koolhaas to completely furnish his summer house in a way that comes from shipbuilding.”

“Philippe Starck also works as an interior and project architect for a number of projects together with Genesis but is also involved in the design / furnishing of yachts. That’s where our paths cross again. That is how Philippe Starck and Marwing came into contact with each other.”

“It sometimes happens the other way around, that customers of Marwing then end up at Genesis. It’s great that it works like this.”

Combined forces
Hans says: “Eyal and I both bring different qualities. My technical background and process knowledge are a good addition to Eyal’s extensive knowledge of epoxy and production experience. Because at Marwing we are constantly dealing with a variety of processes, we at Genesis often also provide solutions for new projects. Each type of project requires a different process. Eyal is more involved in daily production.”

“Marwing is also often involved when a metal base, a suspension system or a certain construction has to be devised to beautifully display a cast-in item by an artist or architect. And so, there are many other advantages. Because we have different in-house expertise, we can serve our customers in a professional manner.”

Innovation
“At Material District, a stage for new materials, we get inspiration when it comes to new materials. We visit the fair every year, where all new materials are exhibited. We gain a lot of knowledge there every year and we take samples with us to test with Liquid Gloss. If they pass the test, we share that with our customers. This creates new creative processes.”

“We are also continuing to develop with epoxy. The composition remains more or less the same, but we continue to take steps in mixing colors and the method of application. And due to legislation and regulations, we are forced to continuously monitor whether the ingredients we work with fall within the scope. For that reason alone, the development in epoxy will always be in motion.”

Joint product development
Hans concludes: “In principle, Genesis only produces for third parties, that is its core business. Despite that, Eyal and I also have the ambition to develop our own product line. We have the knowledge and experience and the shared love in making beautiful things. Our ideas about the product and how we can market it are already beginning to take shape.
